Stranger Things...

Lately, I’ve been trying to pull my son out of his isolation and away from the constant pull of electronics so we can spend more time together.

He suggested we watch *Stranger Things*, and it’s now become our little nightly ritual—when our schedules allow, of course.

The show itself? It’s alright. But the company? Absolutely priceless.

Tonight, as we prepared for our episode—snacks in hand and me feeling nicely relaxed after a little... herbal assistance—my daughter suddenly walked in. What she said next caught me off guard as she's usually more critical of me than complimentary.

We were watching this scene where the mother on screen was completely losing it. Granted, it was valid insanity, but insanity nonetheless. Out of nowhere, my daughter pipes up, “She’s just like you, Mom.”

Wait. Did she just call me crazy?

No, no she didn’t.

When I asked for clarification (because of course I did), she smiled and said, “Not because you’re crazy! But because you’d do anything to protect or save one of your kids, even if it made you look insane.”

Hearing that—that’s how I know I’ve done something right as a mom. Not because I was perfect (far from it), but because, in the end, my kids know—always knew—that they were loved, protected, and cared for. And that I’d always be in their corner.
