Today has been a moment.
That's the politest way I can say it. Because the truth is, there are only so many pivots you can do before you lose your mind, and I used up my whole allotment before lunch.
The buses were cancelled this morning. Just — cancelled. Which killed my whole plan of getting to the courthouse to file the papers I've been procrastinating on. And before anyone comes at me for the procrastinating: those papers make me emotional. Sitting down with them isn't admin, it's surgery. So yeah, I put it off. Sue me. (Please don't. I'm literally at the courthouse enough already.)
I finally got the paperwork done anyway. Through an actual mental breakdown, but done is done. And then — because the universe has a sense of humor and it's broken — I couldn't find my f****** ID. So I had an even bigger mental breakdown, because now I'm definitely not making it to the courthouse.
The ones you love pull you back, time and time again. I got myself there. To pay a 25-year-old fine. And the printer printed the receipt so light they couldn't copy it, and the lady I need to talk to about pardons isn't there today.
So I waited to file, and in the meantime got to field stupid texts from the idiot accusing me of NEGLECT for leaving my kids at a supervised program. Supervised. Program. And I'm a bad dog mom because I gave my dog a haircut — like the vet suggested. Yes, even if she is a border collie. The VET. Suggested it.
And now: swimming at 4:30, dance at 5:35, and no f****** romance.
It's also Ember's birthday. Six years old. She woke up this morning and the world kept spinning anyway, which feels about right — the world does not pause for your pivot count.
Tomorrow's a new day. It has to be, because I'm out of pivots.
