Back On Track, Showing Up Anyway

Published on 1 November 2026 at 21:37

Today started with one sentence: we need to get back on track with everything. And then I actually did it. I turned everything back on — the job search, the reminders, the diary check-ins, the whole lot — instead of just saying I would.

The rest of the day was work, plain and simple. I kept building for Tuesday's interview at noon: the prep got bigger and better, the client file got put together and then restyled so everything matches, formal and professional, and I built a workbook I can actually take into an employer and fill in with them in the room. I got my calendar for the next stretch printed the way I wanted it, first as a list and then as a proper grid, and I finally got the garbage, recycling, green bin, and yard waste schedule sorted for my address and onto the calendar. That one had been hanging over me, and now it's just done.

I also made a call and left things as they are. Two old routines still have couple wording in them, and I chose not to rip them apart today. Leave them as they are. That's a decision too, even if it doesn't look like progress from the outside.

Here's the part I said out loud today, and I'm keeping it: sometimes just simply showing up is enough. I didn't have a perfect day. I had a full one. I showed up for the work, I showed up for the plan, I showed up for the week ahead even when my head was still catching up from yesterday. Nobody hands you a medal for that. But it's real, and it counts.

So no tidy ending, and no fake one either. Today was getting back on track, one thing at a time, and showing up was the whole job. That was November 1. That was enough.
