The Done List

Here is a question for you, mama: how long is your to-do list right now?

And here's the follow-up: how often do you get to the end of the day, look at everything you did NOT finish, and feel like you did nothing?

Because that is the trap. The list never ends. It just refills overnight, like some cursed vending machine. And your brain — your very honest, very tired brain — keeps score of the unfinished stuff. So you go to bed feeling behind, even on days you ran yourself ragged.

I want to hand you a tool I actually use: the Done List.

It is exactly what it sounds like. At the end of the day — or the start, looking back at yesterday — you write down what you DID. Not what you planned. What actually happened.

Kept six humans alive and mostly fed. Packed the lunches. Got everyone where they needed to be. Paused instead of yelling when the milk spilled (or yelled and then apologized — that counts too). Made the phone call you'd been avoiding. Folded ONE basket. Drank water like a person who loves herself.

Watch what happens when you read it back. Your brain has been telling you that you did nothing all day, and suddenly there's the evidence: a whole list of things that would NOT have happened without you.

This is not toxic positivity. This is not pretending everything is fine. This is just accurate bookkeeping, because your to-do list has been lying to you about your worth all week.

Coaching, not therapy, always — this is a daily-life tool for overwhelmed moms, not treatment. But overwhelmed is allowed to want proof that it's doing okay.

So here's your homework, and it's the easiest assignment I've ever given: before bed tonight, write down three things you got done today. Big or small. Then read them like someone who loves you wrote them.

Because someone who loves you — you — is going to start giving yourself credit.

What's on YOUR done list today? Drop it below. I want to celebrate it with you.xtt.
